TATTOO AFTERCARE
Leave the wrap on for 2-3 days. If you will be active or outdoors, 3 days is recommended.
Avoid hot water on the wrap so the adhesive does not melt.
Remove wrap in the shower, downward and slowly.
Lather a gentle soap and run your hands over your tattoo softly in a circular motion.
Pat to dry and apply tattoo balm/lotion (I recommend Aquaphor, available at Shoppers Drug Mart).
Moisturize your tattoo twice a day (morning and evening) or whenever it’s itchy or dry. Only a thin layer is needed, avoid over-applying.
Gently wash your tattoo daily with the same process until it is fully healed.
Precautions:
It is completely normal for the ink to bleed under the wrap, especially for tattoos where ink has been packed in and coloured ink.
It is completely normal for your tattoo to peel once the wrap is removed, that is part of the healing process. Some tattoos may not peel at all depending on the delicacy.
Avoid scratching or picking throughout the healing process.
Avoid direct sunlight on your fresh tattoo.
Avoid exfoliating the area of the tattoo.
Avoid tight clothing that will rub against your fresh tattoo.
Avoid swimming and tanning.
Avoid working out the area where your fresh tattoo is, stretching the skin and sweating is not ideal for your healing tattoo.
Sunscreen is important to preserving the quality of your tattoo, especially if it will be exposed to the sun. Only apply once fully healed.
If you follow these procedures and precautions, your tattoo should be fully healed in 2-3 weeks.
If your piece did not heal as intended, reach out to book a touch-up appointment.
I love to see the final outcome of my work and greatly appreciate being sent healed photos for my own knowledge and to share on social media.
